5 TIPS TO FEEL YOUR BEST AT FETE!

It's always hot during Fete! A few tips from our Official Wellness Sponsor, Group Health Cooperative of South Central WI, on how to stay cool, have fun, and make the most of Madison's favorite summer festival.

1. Drink Lots of Water!

Water is available for sale at the Ferris Wheel Booth & The Prize Wheel Booth. You are also able to bring in your own.

2. Take Breaks in the Shade!

Relax underneath the Moon Stage Tent, the Arts & Crafts tent, the shade tent next to the Ferris Wheel, or the Bistro Tent! Use the map above for directions.

3. Enjoy The Misting Tent!

Do we really need to explain this one?! Find the misting tent near the Family Fete Arts & Crafts tent.

4. Be Sure to Wear Sunscreen!

And reapply often!

5. Know Where The First Aid Stations Are!

First Aid is available in the same places you'll find water--the Family Fete Ticket Booth & the Prize Wheel Booth. We have a licensed EMT on-site at all times.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is This a Free Event?

Yes, this event is Free Admission! Some activities will cost a few dollars, and of course there's delicious drinks and dishes to sample. All the proceeds benefit the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center's programs and services

I’m New to Fete. What Should I Know?

Welcome! There’s a lot to explore at Fete, but we suggest you consider the following first and foremost:

  • Plan how you’re going to get to Fete—and leave extra time to get here! Parking is limited, and a lot of folks are coming on foot or bike, so it will take time to find a spot.
  • Support local and ride Union Cab! Union’s cab stand is located at the intersection of Ingersoll St. and E. Wilson St.  Order online here
  • Bike racks are located near the Brearly St. and Few St. entrance. Plenty of bus routes are available: The 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 will all get you to Fete! Plan your trip using Madison Metro’s Trip guide here.
  • Plan to pack sunscreen, hats, and a water bottle if you’d like!
  • We can’t take cards at the beer and wine stands—but we do take cards at the Fete Boutique, and many of the vendors accept cards as well.

Where’s the Water?

Find water in the Fete Boutique, at the Family Fete Ticket Booth (near the Ferris Wheel), and at the Moon Stage bar.

What Can My Kids Eat?

There is plenty that kids will love! Try:

  • Quesadillas from Smokin' Cantina
  • Hotdogs & hamburgers from Underground Butcher
  • Pizza slices from Roman Candle
  • Cheese curds from Curd Girl
  • French fries & hot dogs from OSS Madison
  • Fresh, healthy, easy-to-handle food from CaliFresh, Slide, Lao Laan Xang, Jamerica, Cafe Costa Rica, SoHo, and more!

What Else Is There To Drink?

Our food vendors will offer a variety of sodas, juices, and more at their individual stands. You can also enjoy local cold brew from Let It Ride, and local Kombucha (a slightly-fizzy, slightly-sweet fermented tea) from NessAlla on the Great Lawn portion of the park (near the Sun Stage).

How Do I Get To Fete?

Central Park is located in the heart of the East Isthmus, at 202 S. Ingersoll Street, between Brearly Street and Few Street, and E. Main Street and E. Wilson Street.

Where Do I Park?

We strongly encourage folks to bus, bike and cab, but if you prefer to drive, please look for parking along the side streets surrounding the Park. Please drive slow and be patient! Lots of guests are coming on foot and bikes—and this is a residential neighborhood—so plan extra time and be patient!

Please note: you cannot park in the areas blocked off by Orange Cones that say “Reserved Parking”. You will be ticketed and towed!

Is There Handicap-Accessible Parking?

Unfortunately, due to the limited amount of parking, we cannot provide many handicap-accessible parking spots.

We do allow cars that cannot find parking to drop-off near the Ingersoll Street and Few Street entrances.

Where's the ATM?

We offer three ATMs! One is located near the Grand Prize Wheel, in the southeast corner of the Bistro Tent. The second is located next to the Ferris Wheel. The third is near the Moon Stage, on Brearly St.

Is There Really A Misting Tent?

There really is! Enjoy and cool off underneath the finest of mists on the Family Fete side of the park, near the food carts and Ferris Wheel. It’s a ten by ten white tent—you can’t miss it!

What is the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center?

The Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center is a community center on the near-east side of Madison (953 Jenifer St.). Wil-Mar (that’s right, Wil-Mar, as in, Williamson-Marquette) has served the East Isthmus and beyond for 50 years, providing affordable childcare, welcoming event and meeting spaces, senior citizen services and activities, a range of health, well-being, fitness and cultural workshops, a food pantry, free community meals, and more!

Why does Wil-Mar host Fete every July?

We love summer, we love building community, and we love raising funds for our vital programs and services while creating incredible memories! We build community through Fete both at the event, and afterwards through the programs that support and connect thousands in the East Isthmus. Everyone is welcome at this free admission event, and we think our diverse musical line-up, activities, and vendor selections demonstrate our pride in being a part of a deeply connected and generous community. We are Wil-Mar!
